aB or Alternative Breaks is a program at my school, Florida International University, which urges students to get involved in their community by working on an issue such as homelessness or animal rights. The exciting part about this program is you are paired with a group and do not know where you will be traveling. We also have to raise our own funds for the trip.
My group was chosen to go to Orlando to Give Kids the World (GKTW). GKTW is theme park for children with disabilities and life threatening diseases. We were integrated into this little community and helped out around the village. Below are some picture of my group, we were not allowed to take pictures with any of the children.

It was a life changing experience doing this service project. I was able to meet children whose lives were being affected by their illnesses, but they did not show it and were so strong. This showed me that my problems are minuscule and I how blessed I am.
